More Than Just Foliage | 5 Fall Festivals in Maine
Each year, the vibrant fall landscape attracts people to Maine - but there is more going on this time of year than just the changing foliage. If you are planning a trip to Maine this fall, consider adding a good ol' down-home festival to your itinerary. There are many to choose from, but here are 5 of our favorites.
#1 | Annual Bethel Harvestfest & Chowdah Cookoff
Music and chowder and apples, oh my! All this and more can be found at this festival held in beautiful Bethel. And don’t forget to enjoy a free wagon ride while you are there.
#2 | Annual Cornish Apple Festival
Cornish is a quaint little town, but during the Apple Festival the streets are bustling! Plan to spend the day enjoying live music while you peruse the many craft vendors and enjoy some of the best homemade apple pie you’ll ever taste!
#3 | Sunday River Fall Festival
This weekend-long festival offers an array of activities, but the wife-carrying contest really takes the cake. The winning couple takes the wives weight in beer as well as a nice cash prize… and for those not competing, the amusement factor is through the roof.
#4 | Ghostport
Dress the kids up in their Halloween costumes and enjoy a full day of pumpkin catapulting, parading, trick-or-treating and storytelling. And for the adults, a chili cook-off!
#5 | Rolling Slumber Bed Races
The name really says it all… beds on wheels, racing down the street! This event is really quite comical and worth adding to the list (and we aren’t just be partial because there are beds involved).
