The George Washington’s Choice Blanket is our oldest and most popular blanket design. Available in 6 colors, this heavyweight blanket is as decorative as it is warm. This heirloom-quality blanket is loom woven from American grown and spun cotton, and the design has a similar appearance to popular cable knit blankets.
The George Washington’s Choice is finished with a double needle plain hem on all four sides. Like all of our made in USA blankets, this blanket is woven and stitched at our family-owned mill in the beautiful state of Maine.

This blanket adds so much value to a good night’s rest . Before the blanket we would be fighting over the polyester bedspread to stay warm. The blanket not only provides plenty of coverage, it’s also heavy and warm to help you fall asleep and stay warm. Since it’s 100% cotton , it’s a breathable weave that won’t have you feeling sweaty or too hot at night. I haven’t washed it yet but the label says it’s preshrunk cotton , so no need to worry too much about putting it through a cleaning cycle.
It is a breath of fresh air to order a product and have it not only meet but far exceed expectations. Finally a blanket that fits my deep mattress! No more fighting over who’s covered. There’s enough for both of us. The weave is so gorgeous it’s a shame to cover it with a comforter! It was below zero when my blanket arrived and we were cozy with it. Beautiful product, well made, like nothing I’ve ever seen at a big box store. Heirloom quality, I would highly recommend!
As a B&B owner we strive to have the best linens for our guests. Our second goal is to buy local. Bates Mills Store makes us succeed with our action plan! So many guests say they search for the manufacture tags to find out where they can get the blankets. Now that is a compliment!
The linen George Washington's choice is what we chose for our King Size bed. This blanket is a sensory dream- beautiful, cozy, detailed but not scratchy, and just the right amount of warm. Adds just the right look and texture we were looking for to complete our bedroom design. If anything should ever happen to this blanket, I'd immediately buy another. It feels like home to me.
