Description
The Queen Elizabeth Bedspread was first introduced by Bates in 1953, in commemoration of Queen Elizabeth II's coronation. The design was also inspired by an intricate quilt originating from the Elizabethan Era, so the name was fitting in more ways than one.
This vintage-inspired matelassé bedspread was the first of its kind to be woven on a mechanical loom, and it has been in continuous production for over 60 years (second in age only to the our classic Martha Washington’s Choice Bedspread).
This cotton matelassé bedspread commands attention with an elegant center medallion and structured framework surrounded by soft florals. The iconic design has also been known in the past as the "Elizabethan Court."

This is the second bedspread that I have purchased from Bates Mill
Store as the quality is superb. The craftmanship is just incredible and I couldn't be more pleased. I ordered a custom size which fit perfectly. I have been so impressed with how well it comes out after machine washing. Absolutely recommend highly!
Every bedspread that I have ever had as long as I can remember is a Bates bedspread from pincord, George Washington, and Queen Elizabeth. My grandparents had Bates bedspreads, my parents, had Bates bedspreads and I never considered anything else. We have them in throw(that was used in a crib, twin, queen and king sizes. We have them in white, blue, and pink. They last for decades. This particular purchase was to replace an original Bates Queen Elizabeth king size that we think was about 25 years old and replaced one that was purchased in 1950. The last washing caused some of the threads to no longer hold hands and though it had been relegated to the guest room, it was time to be retired. The new one is going on our bed and our current QE will be relegated to the guest room. It is only 15 years old after all and has many years of use left. Thank you Mill Store for continuing the Bates tradition.
Absolutely beautiful!! The workmanship and attention atl all detail on this gorgeous bedding is beyond compare. We’re so happy with this purchase. I’m sure it will become an heirloom!
